As part of the Supply Chain/Procurement team, the Procurement manager is responsible for identifying and determining the purchasing needs of the organization. Once identified, they are in charge of finding vendors who can supply these goods and negotiating best prices while taking into account quality and delivery of the goods. They mainly support the purchasing function and act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Identify Purchasing Needs
- Assists in and contributes to the development and creation of product offering strategies, objectives, and tactics
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes.
- Determine the purchasing needs of the organization and effectively work with other parts of the organization to forecast demand and evaluate inventory levels.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
2. Supplier Management/ Vendor Relationship
- .Build relationships with suppliers and track/manage their performance.
- Compile data relating supplier performance to enable evaluation.
3.Ensure contract compliance.
- Identify areas of potential cost reduction.
- Negotiate directly with vendors to get the best possible pricing and payment options/terms.
- Collaborate with the supplier community and internal business partners to collect and maintain supplier/product information associated with our portfolio of products.
4. Take action to minimize additional purchasing expenses as best as possible (freight, convenience charges, fee’s)
- Conduct research for new suppliers.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
5.Other
- Work closely with others in the procurement/supply chain department (as well as other departments: Marketing, Sales, HQ, Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, IT) and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvement.
6. Reporting and Forecasting
- Prepare reports and updates as required.
- SPA reporting/tracking.
- Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules
