Job Description

WHO WE ARE:

The Indirect Global Procurement Team is a specialized organization involved in vendor selection; negotiation strategy; contracting process; and vendor management for the indirect products and services purchased at Hallmark. The Buyer partners with the business partners across all internal organizations and our subs (Crayola, Crown Media, etc.) to provide strategy, contracting, and negotiation options to the business while ensuring procurement best practices are contracted in the deals we lead. Our team is a respected and trusted partner to the senior leadership teams we support. Maintaining internal relationships is important and a critical part of the role. This is a fast-paced, highly visible position for an experienced procurement professional that is interested and experienced in procuring technology, specifically software (SaaS/Perpetual models), hardware, and technical services.


WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS AND HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:

The Buyer for Technology is a sourcing professional within the procurement/supply chain/finance organization with 4+ years of direct experience sourcing software, hardware, and technical services.

  • Requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple high stakes, high dollar deals and to drive value for Hallmark while protecting them contractually.
  • Strong technical and contracting skills are required to review and analyze technology licenses and SLAs to ensure best contracting practices.
  • Coordinates and owns the procurement/sourcing strategy and associated negotiations. Works closely with the business to ensure their requirements are met with their supplier choice while securing the best commercial and contract terms. -Presents strategy, pricing, and deal options to internal teams.
  • Works independently as they own their own projects/outcomes (with managerial oversight).
  • Experience with mega software vendors or service providers highly desired.
  • Ensures all internal policies are met through the course of the contracting/purchasing process.
  • Works with the other Buyers in the Indirect team and PO Specialists as part of the total source to pay process.
  • Interfaces with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, legal, risk, information security, and the suppliers.

This is a progressive role that will be filled at the level based on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a buyer, procurement, sourcing or supply chain role negotiating contracts
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of professional work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of technology and software licensing experience and professional services experience
  • Procurement experience with large suppliers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume/application will stand out if you have:

  • Extensive experience with contract negotiations and working with Legal/Stakeholders on contracts (Masters, SOWs, Software Orders)
  • Presentation skills, including the ability to interface and clearly communicate with senior leadership
  • Prior procurement experience, including:
  • Outstanding business and financial acumen
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience performing industry research; ability to formulate negotiation/procurement strategy
  • Deep understanding of the procurement and purchasing discipline/methodology
  • Experience with SAP/Ariba payment systems
  • Experience with comparing/contracting pricing proposals for benchmarking and financial analysis

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Work is primarily conducted at home with daily access to the KC corporate headquarters. For the right candidate, work may be performed from any state with occasional travel to headquarters as required by the business. Primary business hours are 8-5 CST.
