Kiva Capital Partners is a private investment firm focused on lower middle market investment opportunities in the US.The firm’s Managing Partner is Steve Lee who comes from a background in investment banking and management consulting. Our investors include middle market private equity firms , family offices, and current and former CEOs/Operators.
We are looking for motivated and bright people with an interest in private equity and working in a startup environment. Local candidates are preferred but NOT required. We’re more interested in talent.
Description of Private Equity Associate Intern Role
Key responsibilities may include:
As a Private Equity Associate intern, you will play an integral role in sourcing deals, managing deal flow, due diligence and executing transactions. You will develop a fundamental knowledge middle market private equity, lead teams through investment research and work closely with Kiva’s Managing Partner through due diligence of potential investments. You will also gain valuable experience evaluating potential investments, developing robust financial models, creating valuations (comparable companies, comparable transactions, DCF, LBO) and structuring transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead other projects and teams as needed
- Lead a team through the research to identify investment opportunities, including industry, company and stakeholder research
- Lead due diligence, including detailed financial models, valuation (comparable analysis, DCF and LBO), and transaction financings
While the position is unpaid, we will offer the following:
- Help with all aspects of recruiting including networking, mock interviewing, and resume review
- Training on investing topics including financial modeling, characteristics of a good business, financial analysis, etc.
- Provide letters of recommendation and introductions to our vast network of contacts in management consulting, investment banking, private equity firms or companies in technology and healthcare
- Potential finders fee for identifying a successful acquisition
Interns are encouraged to seek school fellowships and/or course credit, if possible. Hours per week and internship length are flexible.
Desired Qualifications
- Superior work ethic, strong desire to learn, and uncompromising attention to detail
- Currently pursuing an MBA or other advanced degrees
- Ability to identify and present recommendations of industries, companies and/or investment opportunities
- Financial modeling including LBO's , discounted cash flows (DCF) and transaction value analysis
- Excellent analytical, research, organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Commit a minimum of 15 hours per week
- Access and Experience to some or all of the following data sources (IBIS, CapitalIQ, Pitch Book, PrivCo, etc.)
