Job Description
Zurich North America is currently looking for a Privacy Specialist. While it is preferred that this position be based in our corporate office located in Schaumburg, Il, as a hybrid work arrangement with a requirement of working one day a week in the office, we will consider other locations, including remote.
This is an intermediate-level specialist leading projects that support North America (U.S. and Canada) data protection and privacy strategic and operational priorities. Leads one or more projects of small to moderate size and complexity; may participate in projects of larger size and complexity with limited guidance from senior consultants and/or direct manager. Project responsibilities include documenting business requirements, process analysis, identifying and designing business solutions, and issue resolution. Project implementation responsibilities may include developing procedures, training materials, eLearning, and communications. Partners across the business to determine and execute the optimal implementation and change management approach.
The successful candidate is an experienced privacy professional, with a proven track record in collaboratively and pragmatically managing data protection and privacy requirements, and in creating and implementing policies, procedures and/or processes designed to ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian privacy laws such as the CCPA, CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, UCPA, PIPEDA, and Quebec Bill 64. He/she has experience presenting complex issues to senior executives, is a self-starter and excellent communicator who successfully works in "virtual" teams and cross-functional working groups. He/she is expected to build and maintain effective relationships with business stakeholders and to partner with Legal Services and Information Security.
Additional Accountabilities include:
  • Assists with, and may deliver, change management planning and execution (e.g., training, communications) to support the implementation of solutions and initiatives that support strategic and operational priorities.
  • Applies knowledge of the business objectives, processes, products, and services in order to develop recommendations for new programs and/or initiatives to solve business challenges.
  • Designs and develops data protection and privacy training engaging appropriate Subject Matter Experts (SME) across the business.
  • Act as a liaison between Zurich Canada and the U.S. for implementation activities.
  • Assists with the design, development, and implementation of data protection and privacy training and communications, policies, procedures, and guidance materials as necessary.
  • Builds strong relationships across the business.
  • Coordinates planning, facilitates meetings, and monitors decisions .
  • Provides project planning and status reporting for assigned deliverables and activities.
  • Utilizes business, technology, organizational change, and collaborative skills to work with business owners and cross-functional resources to develop and deploy implementation strategies and deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
  • Project Management experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area AND
  • Bachelors Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area OR
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data analysis, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Motivated and works with limited supervision
  • Juris Doctor is preferred
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from entry level to senior leaders
  • CIPP or equivalent certification preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with the training life cycle from needs assessment through evaluation
  • Change management, process management, and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Fluency in French
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The Compensation provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.  As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. The starting salary range for the position is: $69,100.00 - $95,000.00.
