Position Overview:

As a Preconstruction Estimator, you will play a vital role in the initial project planning phase by providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for upcoming commercial construction projects. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to our ability to make informed decisions and offer competitive bids, ultimately ensuring successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings, ensuring all aspects of the project are accounted for, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional project insights and address potential challenges.
• Collaborate with the project team to develop value engineering solutions that optimize project costs while maintaining design intent and functionality.
• Research and solicit competitive bids from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating their proposals to determine the most cost-effective options without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with the project management and design teams to review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive estimates, including detailed breakdowns of costs, quantities, and other relevant information, for client presentations and internal review.
• Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for all project components.
• Work closely with the business development team to ensure alignment between estimates and client expectations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the estimating process by identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and best practices implementation.

Qualifications:

• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges during the estimating process.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing accurate and thorough estimates.
• Experience with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, etc.).
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Minimum of 1 years of experience as an Estimator in the commercial construction industry.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
