  • Ability to provide effective customer service skills Physical Demands: Must be able walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time and involves frequent bending, twisting, and reaching below shoulder level. Requires repetitive use of both hands, including gripping, grasping, fine manipulation and the ability to lift and carry up to 20lbs. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is an entry level position expected to perform clerical duties under general supervision. Qualifications Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications to continue in the recruitment process: Type accurately at a rate of forty (40) net words per minute. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of clerical or office support experience. Licenses and Certificates: Must possess and maintain NCIC/NCJIS certification within six (6) months of hire. Specified positions may require possession and maintenance of the equivalent to a valid Nevada Class C driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire. Examples of Essential Duties Provide support to sworn and non-sworn police staff. Perform general office support work related to the police function. Type officer dictation and audit for accuracy and completeness, reporting to watch commander if corrections necessary. Provide general information to the public. Receive non-emergency calls from citizens reporting crimes, respond to information requests. Provide information regarding procedures and policies to callers. Refer to appropriate staff or take information. Answer questions. Issue identification cards, work permits and bicycle licenses. Perform fingerprinting and criminal history checks. Receive money at counter and issue receipts. Operate cash register and maintain money transactions and receipts. Register ex-felons and sex offenders. Assist TAC with checking warrant information for accuracy and provide warrant information to appropriate law enforcement. Make file checks for historical information and other file checks and operate copy reproduction, fax and microfilm equipment. Type a variety of correspondence and confidential and specialized documents. Proofread and check typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with departmental policies and regulations. Enter and retrieve information using databases and criminal justice computer systems. Complete data entry and quality control on a variety of criminal police reports. Maintain a variety of police related records. Check files for criminal records of subjects for authorized personnel. Retrieve and makes copies of accident, crime and arrest reports. Enter, modify, delete and confirm records of wanted persons, missing persons, GTA's, and stolen property in criminal justice databases. Break, sort and organize police documents for the court and City departments. Review documents for errors or omissions and refer to appropriate issuing officer for correction. Provide critical information to the courts regarding arrests with short deadlines. Issue moving and parking citation books to authorized staff. Provide information to other law enforcement agencies, courts, attorney's, insurance agencies and others as required. Respond to requests for copies of police reports in accordance with established Police Department policies and procedures and state law. Prepare, redact and disseminate copies of police reports to courts, attorneys, insurance companies, citizens and other state and local governments and law enforcement agencies. Scan and index reports into our Police Imaging system. Copy and scan probable cause sheets of arrests every twelve (12) hours to the jail for the judges' review.
