Job Description

Specialty Coating Systems is now hiring a Plant Manager in Austin, TX. The Plant Manager, alternatively titled Coating Center Manager, has overall responsibility for the operation and output of the assigned facility, to include quality, delivery, safety, cost, productivity, and regulatory compliance. This manager leads a team of employees to meet or exceed the established goals and objectives for the site.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the management of the quality system in the facility and serves as the management representative for such. In this capacity, ensures that processes needed for the management system are established, implemented and maintained; communicates to top management on the performance of the management system and any needed improvements; and, ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the facility.
  • Creates and maintains a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Shares and leverages best practices. Freely reaches out to others to discuss issues and resolve problems.
  • Drives cross-functional processes to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction, employee engagement and overall business performance.
  • Develops and implements plans for efficient use of resources: materials, equipment and employees.
  • Develops a site culture that reflects and upholds the Vision and Values of Specialty Coating Systems.
  • Plans, organizes and guides the activities of the Coating Center to meet established company objectives.
  • Collaborates with management to strategically build and improve organizational capability and business excellence. Participates in or leads projects for clarifying and/or enhancing business processes.
  • Ensures implementation of all corporate procedures and safety/security policies/crisis management and other business requirements in order to maintain good corporate practice, uphold company reputation and safeguard all company assets.
  • Serves as the spokesperson for the facility during business meetings, customer meetings, public relations meetings, and so on. In this role, communicates professionally both in one-on-one settings and to groups.
  • Directly supervises a staff of employees. Develops team members via ongoing communication, training, coaching, and counseling. Is responsible for appraising performance, recommending wage increases, promotions, and dismissals.
  • Develops and maintains constructive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with the Director of Coating Operations, Americas to prepare, review and submit an annual operating, headcount and capital budget for executive review and approval.
  • Travels up to 10% of time, both domestically and internationally to attend meetings, trade shows, training, other facilities, and customer locations.
  • Develops the assigned plants annual operating, headcount and capital budget.
  • Is accountable for the assigned plants P&L.
  • Oversees and assures the assigned plant is well maintained and kept in good order.
  • Measures site performance against established metrics and reports results.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with 5+ years of related work experience managing others in a manufacturing setting;
  • Some college course work combined with 8+ years of related work experience managing others in a manufacturing setting.
  • Working knowledge of ISO or AS9100 quality systems required.

BASIC SKILLS:

  • Proven history of ability to effectively manage people, resources and multiple priorities.
  • Successful track record of close and effective interactions with Sales and Marketing to support customer focus and targeted operations.
  • Possesses well-developed communication, public speaking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to field questions, think on feet, verbalize abstract concepts, make decisions based on facts or past experiences/knowledge, and build effective teams.
  • Ability to give clear verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid US drivers’ license and US Passport.
  • Successful track record of understanding business financials and applying that knowledge when making decisions about running the organization and business planning.
  • Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Excel®, Power Point®, and Word® software.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop personnel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $91,392.24 - $125,901.87 per year
