This position is responsible to coordinate Physical Therapy clinical programs and other administrative programs, to insure competencies of physical therapy staff, toact as a liaison to communicate Physical Therapy concerns to the Occupational and Physical Therapy Manager, to provide physical therapyconsultation, evaluation, and direct treatment services for inpatients and outpatients in a pediatric hospital providing orthopedic, burn and rehabilitationcare; to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to act as a resource to staff and the general public regarding assigned areas ofresponsibility.


This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $55.92/hour - $78.95/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

  • Communicates with community therapists, educators, and other staff members and/or outside resources involved in thepatient's care to act as a resource person and/or liaison with the interdisciplinary team and medical staff for patientevaluation, consultation, and/or other individualized patient needs.
  • Communicates staffing concerns/needs to the OT/PT Manager to insure adequate patient care coverage.
  • Acts as a clinical resource to staff; assesses the need for, plans and coordinates educational offerings and skills trainingfor staff with the Occupational and Physical Therapy Manager.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary patient care planning during weekly participation in team meetings and patient care roundspresenting information regarding patient status including problems, progress with goals' achievement andrecommendations for continued therapy in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
  • Communicates with the physical therapy staff regarding clinical programs in a clear, understandable and concise mannerusing positive communication and effective problem solving skills
  • Consults with the Occupational and Physical Therapy Manager in a timely and effective manner regarding concerns thatmay effect efficient and effective physical therapy department operations, including hospital-wide issues that may impactthe physical therapy department
  • Coordinates Physical Therapy Clinical Education Program or assigns responsibility to facilitate ongoing communicationwith affiliating university programs, schedule internships for each school, assign a preceptor to provide supervision duringthe internship and oversee performance, provide preceptor training, conduct an annual program evaluation and review andupdate the student manual.
  • Performs comprehensive physical evaluation of each patient's physical status and functional abilities to identify individualneeds. Evaluation of the following may be included ROM, muscle strength, sensation, balance, posture, tone,cardiovascular endurance, developmental sequencing/milestones, gross motor skills, bed mobility, transfers, w/c skills,ambulation, and equipment needs (DME, seating, assistive devices, orthotics) as appropriate.
  • Performs patient screening in outpatient general, new patient, and specialty clinics related to hospital or communitytherapy needs and current services received to include frequency, duration, and appropriateness of therapy goals.

Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with a bachelors or masters degree required in physical therapy or, Three years pediatric orthopedic, burns and/or rehabilitation experience.
