NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Physical Scientist to join our team! This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.
Duties

Cultivate and execute advanced manufacturing education and workforce development partnerships and outreach opportunities within AMNPO for the Manufacturing USA network. Work includes close coordination with our interagency partners and the Manufacturing USA institutes established by sponsoring agencies. Develop programs and offerings to engage Manufacturing USA stakeholders, workers, educators, and students. Organize and conduct outreach to educate existing and potential stakeholders on the scientific, technical, and programmatic offerings of the advanced manufacturing education and workforce program. Research, analyze and coordinate across the office, agencies, and institutes on new partnership and programming. Assist in the planning and management of NIST Office of Advanced Manufacturing workforce related strategy, competitions, awards, and programs including the Manufacturing USA program. Conduct AMNPO/Manufacturing USA network outreach and implement a comprehensive engagement strategy to reach key advanced manufacturing stakeholders, students, educators, and workers.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements: A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience includes: directly coordinating education and workforce development programs, projects and initiatives; devising, executing and evaluating new educational initiatives; developing STEM-related workforce training and education materials and outreach opportunities for various audiences, including students and workers; producing content or speaking on workforce-related skills and career options; developing relationships and executing initiatives with external stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
