Pharmacy Technician Grade 10 Jobs

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training as a pharmacy technician; two years of experience performing duties related to the functioning of a pharmacy; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Position may require a State of Georgia Pharmacy Technician License.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to counting and filling prescriptions, including counting, filling, and labeling prescriptions; pricing prescriptions; billing patients; ordering supplies; and cleaning the pharmacy. Pharmacy Technician is distinguished from Pharmacist, Staff in that the former works under the direction of a pharmacist and is not authorized to dispense pharmaceuticals.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Prepares prescriptions for patients by counting, filling, and labeling prescription orders.
Prices prescriptions and prepares bill for patient or third party payer; inputs patient’s information into computer.
Orders pharmacy supplies. Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy.
Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
