This position will be granted a $1000 bonus to be paid upon completion of 6 months of service with the company as a Patient Care Specialist.


Overview


The Patient Care Specialist, under the supervision of Manager, Operations & Compliance, assists in the various activities of the pharmacy operations not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. The Patient Care Specialist is primarily responsible for incoming and outgoing calls from customers regarding drug delivery, set-up and all related services.


Qualifications


  • One (1) year of experience working in a high volume pharmacy, or equivalent setting, required, or six (6) months as a temporary associate in the Patient Care Specialist role or Reliance Operations & Compliance department. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 5lbs.
  • Proven examples of displaying the Reliance values: Collaborative, Accessible, Results-Oriented, Empowering, and Supportive.
  • Experience working with on line claims processing system preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and an aptitude for working with other health care professionals.


Essential Accountabilities


  • Billing.
  • Prior Authorization assistance with offices.
  • Financial arrangements, collecting co-payments.
  • Set up, data entry.
  • Work as a team member within the patient services department and all other departments to promote information sharing and continuous process improvement.
  • Packaging and shipping.
  • A patient care specialist through incoming and outgoing calls answers patient inquiries about billing, procedures, policies and available services.
  • Specialists must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.
  • Maintain patient records; filing, documentation duties
  • Financial assistance coordination.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and insurance companies, and facilitate communication between patients and doctors, medical staff and administrative staff.
  • Coordination of benefits.
