Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for transactional, operational, and strategic management for a fast-growing and multi-entity company. Additional responsibilities include general system maintenance/requests/support. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest level of integrity, professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance. This position is remote, but work from the main office is on an as-needed basis.
Payroll Specialist Job Responsibilities
- Assist with tax audit
- Assist with W2 processing
- Maintain garnishments in accordance with federal and state requirements
- Prepare and calculate an off- cycle payments when needed including bonuses, adjustments, etc.
- Responsible for all aspects of payroll administration for hourly and salary pay groups
- Serve as a liaison between employees and the payroll provider
- Responsible for generating and loading of the General Ledger to accounting software
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly payrolls to produce accurate payments by ensuring that time and attendance reports balance to imported pay data batches in ADP's Workforce Now
- Assist in Year End payroll activities and other projects
- Working in coordination with the HR department to ensure that new hires information, terminations, employee changes and adjustments are accurate
- Audit source documents to ensure receipt of appropriate approvals
- Run ad-hoc reports as needed, audit and maintain accurate records
- Assist employees and answer any payroll related questions
- Reconcile payroll disbursements
- Work with the Payroll Manager and payroll provider to set up new tax jurisdictions, resolve issues with the agencies and ensure that payroll provider tax services file and deposit tax returns timely and accurately. Obtain tax returns copies and save for the records and auditing purposes
- Stay abreast of the current payroll laws and changes and ensure processes and policies follow these rules.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required competencies include attention to detail, demonstrated ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects and payrolls at once, comfort with analyzing large amounts of data, problem solving ability and the ability to operate in a fast paced and high confidentiality settings.
Three to five years working in a payroll function, or related experience required.
Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, Enhanced Time keeping, and Microsoft Office strongly preferred.
