Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for processing payroll and producing the associated payroll reports in accordance with the bi-weekly payroll schedule, including but not limited to entering new hires, promotions, transfers, and processing terminations. Accountable for all processes associated with the payroll function. Must be highly organized, multi-task oriented, and possess the ability to complete a variety of everyday office duties in a busy, fast paced environment. Strong service orientation and customer facing skills are required.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process unemployment claims and respond in a timely manner to any requests for wage, termination, or other employment related information.
  • Processing disability paperwork for earnings and tax reporting
  • Additional projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Process lost/destroyed checks, voids and re-issuance of payroll checks as necessary.
  • Complete biweekly payroll reconciliation report for accounting department and note any changes or adjustments made during the payroll process.
  • Verify and process biweekly payroll.
  • Produce payroll reports, preparation of various payroll reports for managers.
  • Follow all Chickie’s and Pete’s standards.
  • Maintain and update payroll records including, but not limited to address changes, exemptions, direct deposits, garnishments, wages, job titles.
  • Assist with audits with DOL, accountants, annual insurance audits and other agencies as necessary.
  • Maintenance of new hire employment paperwork verifying all paperwork is complete and correct.
  • Smile and always maintain a positive attitude.
  • Process Wage Garnishments, Child Support Orders, 401K contribution changes, and other employee related deductions.
  • Assist employees with gaining access to self-service payroll portal.
  • Maintain I-9’s and Residency Certificates.
  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation injuries including all necessary follow-up and year end OSHA reporting.
  • Balance Aloha POS Payroll reports with Payroll Register
  • Ensure proper documentation of terminated employees, unemployment paperwork and hearings, employment verifications, inquiries, and requests.
  • Liaison with management and employees regarding payroll inquiries. Resolve payroll discrepancies, provide payroll information by answering questions and requests via Phone, E-Mail, or Ask Here Portal through Paycom.
  • Monitor compliance with minors working at the locations.
  • Liaison with Paycom regarding payroll and system issues.
  • Process terminations, verifying last day worked, last check and reason for termination, process garnishment terminations.

  • Performing General Physical Activities: Must perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate strength including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, and handling of material.
  • Communication: Must clearly communicate in a professional manner with guests, vendors, coworkers, and management.
  • Flexibility: Works additional hours and assists with the workload of others if needed. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Analytical Skills: General accounting and mathematical skills required. Must use logic and reasoning to identify solutions and alternatives for a successful outcome to problems.
  • Language Skills: Must speak and write with excellent command of the English language including proper spelling and grammar. Bilingual is a plus!
  • Time Management Skills: Must know and use methods and organizational techniques to complete appropriate tasks and manage workload in a manner that promotes efficiency and respects the time of others.


Individuals interested in applying should possess the following:

  • Previous experience with Aloha POS is a preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly, thoroughly, and in detail.
  • Previous experience processing payroll for multiple locations with a workforce of over 1000+ employees is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the restaurant industry is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and prioritize tasks daily.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to manage time effectively.
  • Able to manage email inbox and reply in timely manner to requests and copy all necessary parties in communication.
  • Previous experience working with Paycom is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous payroll processing experience is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive and work well at a faster-than average pace.
