Job Summary
Help at Home is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist I to join our dynamic payroll team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of our payroll processes. In this role, you will be at the forefront of managing day-to-day payroll functions, which include overseeing full cycle payroll processing, executing garnishment orders, and fostering collaboration with local market HR and payroll teams. Your contributions will extend to maintaining effective communication with timekeepers and cultivating a comprehensive understanding of time entry and accrual systems. Your unwavering commitment to analytical precision and upholding the confidentiality of payroll data will be indispensable assets in this critical position.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Execute and review various audit reports to proactively identify accuracy issues and take appropriate steps to correct before processing.
  • Seek guidance on unique scenarios from Payroll Specialist II or Operations Analysts.
  • Ensure proper authorization for actions such as issuing manual checks. Additionally, process off-cycle payments in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Runs ad-hoc reports, analyze data, and apply findings along with problem solving skills to investigate and resolve payroll-related challenges.
  • Ensure payroll tax actions adhere to Federal, State, and Local regulations
  • Coordinate, process and administer all aspects of payroll, including tax levies, garnishments, taxation, deductions, special pay, etc.
  • Analyze various pay amounts, accrual amounts, calculated figures, ACH totals, check quantities, etc. for each payroll cycle to identify any irregularities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursement.
  • Address and resolve day-to-day and technical payroll inquiries and concerns.
  • Execute full cycle payroll processing for the company's designated markets
  • Manage various assigned projects and issues as directed by Supervisor, Manager or System Director
  • Utilize problem solving skills to ensure precise payroll reporting and analysis
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient in general office skills, including typing, business machines, ten-key by touch, and computer system usage, including the use of personal computers.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding sensitive personnel information.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Exhibits empathy, maturity, and strong teamwork capabilities; alongside excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse population.
  • Highly detailed-oriented, ensuring a high degree of accuracy in tasks.
Education And Experience
  • 3+ years of prior payroll experience
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including the ability to create and modify documents using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Prior office experience is required, including organizing and executing tasks of moderate complexity.
  • Associates Degree, or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree is a plus
