Payroll Assistant - Long Island

The Payroll Assistant ensures the timely and accurate processing of regular paychecks, pension checks and certain related payroll functions, in accordance with hospital policies and government regulations. Assists in the review of interface processes, and corrects resulting errors as approved by supervisor. Processes employees' voluntary deductions and tax withholding forms and verifies the data is accurately keyed online. Processes special payments such as prepaid vacation, retroactive payments, terminations, tuition reimbursements and payroll adjustments. Processes Direct Deposit forms and reconciles accounts. Communicates with Citibank regarding all issues concerning direct deposit. Completes the payroll portion of salary verification forms. Processes paperwork for garnishments, child support, levies, and bonds, maintaining appropriate audit trail records. Reconciles cost distribution, tuition reimbursement and real estate reports for General Accounting. Verifies earnings for Pension calculation upon request from Compensation. Prepares W2s for distribution and provides replacement W2s upon request of supervisor.

This is a full time position located at our off-site offices in Nassau County, Long Island.

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of computer systems and various office applications
• One to two years clerical experience

Preferred Criteria

• Kronos, ADP Enterprise, ADP Reporting, Spreadsheet/Payroll background
• Associates degree
