Patient Registrar/Front Desk

Exceptional is seeking a Patient Registrar for its Emergency Department in a new facility. This role owns the process of obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information from ER patients.

Core duties:

• Assess the patient's ability to complete the admission process prior to receiving services
• Interview patients in a courteous, efficient, and accurate manner to ensure correct and complete information is obtained and documented
• Verify patient demographic information and identify/create records as needed
• Identify patients with non-participating plans and resolve issues with staff and physicians
• Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention
• Obtain required information from payor systems to ensure maximum reimbursement
• Verify and prepare all necessary forms, documents, plates, labels, and wristbands to ensure proper patient identification
• Maintain current knowledge and competency of all government and third-party payors

Required Qualifications:

• Good customer service and communication skills
• High School Diploma -OR- GED (required)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Registrar and third party payor experience
• Satisfactory completion of college-level Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant course
• Healthcare experience, in either a provider or payor site
• One (1) year experience in customer service or healthcare registration
