REPORTS TO: Director of Mission Delivery
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time Non-Exempt
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $18.50 to $23.00 per hour DOE, with $1.50 per hour shift differential and $1.50 per hour weekend shift differential. A benefit package to include health, dental, vision, long/short term disability, vacation, sick and retirement plan will be offered to the eligible candidate.

ABOUT HUSHABYE NURSERY:
Hushabye Nursery is an Arizona nonprofit organization with a mission to ‘embrace substance exposed babies and their caregivers with compassionate, evidence-based care that changes the course of their entire lives. The organization was founded by Tara Sundem, a neonatal nurse practitioner who witnessed firsthand the challenges of newborns exposed prenatally to opioids and those families trying to care for them. Hushabye Nursery’s innovative model offers a safe and inclusive space where mothers, family members and babies – from conception through childhood – can receive integrative care and therapeutic support that offers each child the best possible life outcomes. Programs will include prenatal and postpartum support groups, inpatient nursery services and outpatient therapies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Patient Care Associate (PCA) is responsible for aiding the professional staff. Delivers direct care to patients as directed by the RN in charge. Always maintains patient comfort and safety. Follows all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Adheres to the facility’s Core Values and mission with complete regard for the dignity of each person.
- Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care.
- Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
- Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
- Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery.
- Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
- Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice.
- Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following core competencies:
- Current Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant or LPN Certification in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers.
- Current AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance
- Current BLS certification is required.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required.
- Proof of COVID vaccination(s).
- Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Current CPR (American Heart Association).
- Successful completion of nursing assistant course or the equivalent.
- High school graduate preferred.
- State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
