Basic Statement of Responsibilities

• This position will provide quality instruction for all students enrolled in Brewing Operations Curriculum. Faculty are responsible for teaching students through formal and informal classroom in an atmosphere compatible with the philosophies, goals and objectives of the college.
• The instructor will train with Allegany College of Maryland faculty mentors, follow the Allegany College of Maryland student learning outcomes, syllabus and texts, and use Brightspace or the Learning Management System ( LMS ).

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED plus three years of industry experience in brewing, distillation and fermentation required; Associates Degree or Certification Preferred.

Organizational Relationships

• Part Time Brewing Instructor reports directly and is responsible to The Program Director of Hospitality Manager.
• This position interacts closely with all Gateway Center faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• The faculty member will possess strong personal and professional integrity, good verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety.
• Teach classes according to the curriculum and provide a current course plan for each course taught to the appropriate supervisor and faculty member.
• Teach assigned classes as per course plan and schedule (primarily evening) and meet required contact hours.
• Participate in the faculty evaluation and assessment process.
• Classroom instruction, meet with students, participate in assessment, conduct course evaluations using Evaluation Toolkit; participate in orientation and mentoring; maintain e-mail communication with students and supervisors.
• Submit mid-semester and final semester grades to the Registration Office by the specified deadlines.
• Conduct a fair evaluation of students’ performance applied equally to all.
• Strive to improve teaching effectiveness and advising in a learner-centered educational model.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director/Chair of the department

Secondary Responsibilites

Faculty members are also obligated to abide by and support college policies set forth in the College Catalog, Faculty Handbook and the Human Resources Policy Manual. Faculty must be committed to the learning centered philosophy as well as the strategic priorities of the college as identified through the Strategic Plan.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

The part time instructor must be skilled in brewing operations. Computer applications (Microsoft office, email, web navigation, Brightspace).

Working Conditions

Most of the job is sedentary. Occasional periods of light work may be required. Travel is required to other campuses, educational sites, off campus meetings, and training workshops and seminars.
