Job Description

Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks and is responsible for recommending improvement and repair projects, which includes planning and maintaining park facilities and grounds in a timely manner.

Job Duties:
Maintenance:
  • Maintains, inspects, repairs all park building for any problems or hazards; completion of various carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and welding. Improvement and repair projects while following maintenance standards. Vehicle and equipment repair, including but not limited to; Trucks, Tractors, Lawn equipment, Etc.

Janitorial:
  • Maintains all restrooms in clean, sanitary conditions; to include disinfecting toilets, sinks, water fountains, and showers. Sweep and mop floors. Restock towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers. Ability to pass D.O.C. training, in order to work with inmate working crews.Outdoor Recreation &

Outdoor & Trail:
  • Maintains campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, and/or other recreational site, to include litter removal, trail maintenance, hauling debris. Heavy lifting is required

Public & Staff Safety:
  • Promote the safety of park visitors and enforces Park rules and protect Park resources; Utilizes two-way radio communications system; Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers; Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.

Cash Handling:
  • Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.

  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Techniques in maintenance and upkeep of facilities and Park grounds; park curatorial practices and display techniques; park rules, fees and revenue functions; techniques for display and interpretation of objects/ artifacts and general resources to visitors; law enforcement practices and principles; general office procedures.
Skill in:
Public relations and information dissemination; practices and techniques of maintenance; driving, operating and maintaining automotive equipment; basic curatorial techniques
Ability to:
Research of natural or historical information; performing math calculations; first aid techniques; oral and written communications; interpersonal relationships.

Selective Preference(s):

Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist; OR three years of work experience in customer service, library or museum work; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11
