Summary/Objective


The individual must be forward thinking, raise the bar and expectations of the engineering department. This role is responsible for designing, testing, and implementing different designs for developing packaging solutions for our products. They should be able to lead their team as well as work with internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve packaging goals. This individual must be passionate, hardworking, positive, and have a sense of urgency for all projects.


This position will be responsible for identifying and implementing cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, and transportation. They should be willing to work with other groups to accomplish the goals of the company while meeting expectations of the customers.


Essential Functions

  • Work directly with suppliers on concepts and prototypes.
  • Monitor proper use and implementation of packaging.
  • Assist teams with training for new and existing packaging standards.
  • Create drawings and specifications.
  • Work directly with internal teams to develop packaging solutions.


Competencies


  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes.
  • Oversee and manage packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
  • Work with different departments to ensure that packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.
  • Provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
  • Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company’s overall goals.


Supervisory Responsibility


  • Supervise; assign work to be completed, methods used and take responsibility for all of the group’s work
  • Act as a leader of the group, but also perform similar work.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. Team member must be able to communicate with customers, management, and other team member’s regularly to achieve the goal of the company while solving problems daily. Listening to others to receive information is important to being successful in this position.


This position does not require heavy lifting. An occasional exertion of heavy lifting may be common, but not consistent. Willingness to go out to the floor and assist team members in packaging standards will also be important.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are decided by the hiring manager. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as needed.


Travel


Travel may be required on occasion.


Required Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Auto CAD experience
  • SolidWorks experience


Preferred Education And Experience


  • Strong organization and time management skills preferred.
  • Should understand or be willing to learn processes and quality improvement.
  • Must have the ability to work individually as well as a team.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills are necessary.
  • Proven leadership experience in similar industry preferred.


Work Authorization/Security Clearance


Must be able to pass EVerify.
