Job Description

TheOperations Supervisor is responsible for thedaily coordination of work team performance to ensure thatdaily schedules are on-time with zero quality and safety incidents. In addition to the oversight of the functional team, they are also required to personally work on production tasks as a functioning team member. This position performs all functions of production so they can train and work with each member to improve the functional team’s performance over time.


Key Accountabilities:

Operations Team Coordination and Execution- 30%

Accountable to driveandensure that the team and individuals execute production schedules daily.

Operations Direct Task Work- 20%

Accountable to perform individual production daily work to contribute to the functional team’s goals and objectives. This includes setup of tools, station, fabrication, preventative maintenance, and station quality control.

Functional Team Member Training & Development- 20%

Accountable for the direct training and development for team members to increase the work team’s capability to meet production metrics and schedules.

Team Safety and Quality Assurance- 20%

Continuously improve procedures, processes, and methods in the work team to ensure safety/quality with zero injuries and zero quality issues.

Continuous Improvement- 10%

Accountable to drive continuous improvement efforts regarding work team and individual production practices, principles, and processes.


Responsibilities:

Operations Team Coordination and Execution- 30%

1.Ensures team’s huddle board is updated with daily department production details (project schedule, materials shortages, team priorities, etc.).

a.Ensures all work activities are assigned and coverage is planned for absences, vacations, and dealer/receiving needs.

b.Communicates with the Head of Operations on the status of the functional team, constraints, and other needs so it can be updated and reviewed in the Constraints Operations meetings.

2.Manage theproduction team’s performance and schedule to ensure daily workplanis complete.

3.Oversee the product team’s tasks to ensure quality of product.

4.Oversee the product team’s safety and qualityto ensurequalitystandards are met and safetyproceduresare followed.

5.Ensure that all team schedules are on track for completion.

6.Responsible to coordinate all functional team production tasks with the Head of Operations to ensure that operations meet project schedules.

7.Review all production statuses and issues with the Head of Operations to determine course of action to meet quality and schedules.

8.Provide clear task and production instructions to functional team members and concise production updates to leadership to ensure effective flow of work and information when needed.


Operations Direct Task Work- 20%

1.Ensure that all functions on the production cells are covered and staffed appropriately to achieve the production goals daily.

2.Act as a floater/resource to backfill functional team members.

3.Required to support and/or directly perform all tool set ups and change overs to support the production team to minimize down time.

4.Identify and assign or provide support for implementation of preventative maintenance improvement plans.

5.Perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance procedures on tools, equipment, and the facility as needed.

Functional Team Member Training & Development- 20%

1.Required to identify all training needsfor functionalproduction teams and team members to ensure thatproduction meets schedule, cost, quality, and most importantly safety requirements.

2.Work with the Head of Operations and Quality Assurance to develop training needs assessment for all team members.

3.Ensure that the Head of Operations understands needs and resources are identified and obtained toprovide the necessary training forteam members.

4.Perform or delegate all trainingof team membersto close performance gaps and to drivecontinuous improvement against production requirements.

5.Follow up on all training to ensure that team members become proficient at their newresponsibilities.

6.Auditall teammembers’performance to drive efficiency and performanceafter training has occurred.

Team Safety and Quality Assurance- 20%

1.Ensure that functional team members become familiar with and understand all procedural changes and instructions.

2.Collaborate with the Head of Operations on safety meetings and educational forums to be proactive to safety incident prevention.

3.Aid in the audit of production team members to ensure safety protocols are followed and adhered to.

4.Manage functional team safety improvement roadmap based on audit findings and walkthroughs.

5.Manage compliance to all safety procedures and proper protective equipment usage.

6.Follow all emergency response protocols and support training and response efforts.

7.Drive safety and accident prevention into company culture.

8.Maintain a quality assurance culture with training and procedures that support initiatives.

9.Continuously monitor and aid in revisions of operations instructions to drive quality outcomes in operations.

10.Develop, train, and execute all work instructions for functional production processes.

11.Respond to and communicate all marginal safety and quality performance and collaborate to develop systemic solutions to eliminate future issues.

12.When an accidentor quality incidentoccurs,they are the first response to contain theincident,determine the cause and ensure that people and propertyissues arerectified in a timely manner.

13.Required to complete all incident paperwork and follow up with the Head of Operations and applicable team members to assure proper documentation and coinciding solution isimplemented to avoid future incidents.

14.Responsible for capturinglessonslearned to reduce the potential of incidents and injuries with Project Management, Head of Operations, and Quality Assurance.


Continuous Improvement- 10%

1.Execute to the assigned production team performance targets and metrics.

2.Maintain effective communication through production team “huddles” on a twice-daily basis to surface improvement opportunities and issues that need addressed.

3.Maintain effective cross-functional group communication through a daily operations lead-meeting to surface bottlenecks, balance capacity, and provides cross-training opportunities.

4.Maintain and improve production process flows to drive for zero quality issues and lead time reduction for project due dates.

5.Create and maintain a team continuous improvement plan and incorporate all functional work teams’ inputs to ensure engagement and execution of the improvements.

6.Collaborate with the Head of Operations to acquire or provide resources to execute the improvements on the production floor.

7.Partner with the team members to provide them with the information required to drive improvements to cost and quality issues.

8.Work to introduce, develop, and implement ‘best practice’ processes and continuously improve upon them.

Qualifications

-Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

-High School Diploma/GED plus6-10 years of experience in medical device manufacturing.

-Ability to be onsite between 6:00am - 4:00pm with variable hours due to production schedules.
