Job Description

Lupin is comprised of a fast growing, innovative and robust team of manufacturing, Research and Development and commercial divisions. Together these entities make up the generic and branded U.S. business. Lupin has a significant generic pipeline, and a branded focus on women’s health. Our first Research and Development facility in the US is located in Coral Springs, Florida which focuses on generic and branded orally inhaled and nasal drug products. Somerset, New Jersey is home to one of twelve commercial manufacturing sites globally and the only commercial manufacturing facility in the United States for Lupin, as well as additional Research and Development teams. Role and Responsibilities

The Manager of Operations reports to the Head of Operations and is responsible for providing leadership and direction for all operational activities within both manufacturing and packaging of oral solid dosage forms, liquid, and/or semi-solids. This role primarily supports Packaging operations and leads a team of supervisors to fulfill finished product market demand.


  • Conducts performance reviews to create and maintain a supportive and trusting relationship with all Supervisors and Operators.
  • Ensures readiness of equipment and staffing levels to meet established objectives. Will maintain the site operations under your care in a state of quality compliance by assessing, acting, and continuously improving on a routine basis to cGMP standards.
  • Responsible for product release and delivering volumes in alignment with the business plan and customer schedules. Is responsible for products, as assigned, and the resources at the site to deliver those products from beginning to end as the value stream leader.
  • Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of engagement and empowerment in which individuals and teams can excel and continuously improve.
  • Ensure the site meets all requirements mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
  • Directly oversee Production Supervisors on multiple shifts.
  • Will partner with other departments in support of site goals including quality assurance, quality control, technical services, supply chain, safety and environment, procurement, engineering, maintenance, finance, and human resources.
  • A leader of people, this role will work with little to minimal supervision and report to the senior leader of operations. Will work with senior leaders to plan the future state and changes and translates those into actionable objectives and goal setting for him/her own goals, the department, and all subordinate positions.
  • Will operate within written procedures in all direct manufacturing practices. Will review, approve, and be directly responsible for the operational deviations for established processes while directing the investigations and ensuring their timely completion.
  • Lead, foster and develop a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the company’s manufacturing team (Dispensing, Granulation, Blending, Compression, Encapsulation, and/or Coating) and packaging teams (bottling of tablets, capsules, liquids and/or powders). Drives and directly responsible for achieving company goals and objectives with emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experience with SAP or another ERP system preferred
  • Experience managing teams
  • Demonstrated record of working cross-functionally
  • Working knowledge of Operational Excellence to include 6 Sigma/Lean Methodologies
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in a Scientific or Engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing
