The Operations Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership and oversight for a high volume 3PL-operated order fulfillment center. This role is responsible for the overall operational administration and management of an IB/3PL Fulfillment Center (FC); assisting in developing and implementing strategies for improving key performance indicators including pick rates, accuracy, incident rates, overtime, damages/returns, dedicated fleet usage and reverse logistics functions; achieving business objectives, ensuring inventory is accounted for in a safe and efficient manner, establishing and maintaining workflow processes as necessary to meet both delivery goals and performance standards; maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the 3PL is following a FEFO (first expiration, first out) process and facilitate resolution of picking-related process issues when needed
  • Liaisons with key stakeholders to ensure service levels and overall FC order delivery experience is outrageously dependable
  • Participates in regular KPI reviews with internal stakeholders and 3PL representatives
  • Utilizes process improvement and a results-oriented approach to continually improve operational efficiencies that support the successful execution of IB strategic objectives.
  • Annual battery throughput on average at 2.5M units (varies between the 8 FCs)
  • Serves as the on-site Interstate Batteries representative for assigned FC to provide operational oversight and general leadership for the 3PL
  • Ensures that the Company’s physical assets (inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized.
  • Assist Regional Operation leaders in getting FCs up and running in other locations as needed
  • Manage, in conjunction with the 3PL, the annual physical inventory and related audit in partnership with the 3PL operations
  • Physical and systematic accuracy (floor to WMS, WMS to SAP)
  • Regularly audits processes and procedures for maintaining high standards of operations to meet expectations and quality standards.
  • Work with internal stakeholders as needed to confirm battery age
  • Uses data-driven approach to problem solving
  • Subject Area Expert for Warehouse Management Systems, ensuring that all WMS interfaces are functioning properly.
  • Engage with the 3PL management team on daily progress and help to set priorities when needed
  • Develops and maintains operational inventory strategies that ensure the accuracy and availability of product at the FC.
  • Engages in a collaborative manner with other IB functional groups to implement a streamlined process for the FC
  • Accountable for monitoring overall financial performance of the 3PL costs compared to budget and working with the 3PL and IB Inventory and Transportation teams as needed to implement cost improvement projects
  • Ensures key metric reporting is in place and provide root cause analysis and continuous improvement solutions.
  • Provide support where necessary to ensure quality and accuracy of work performed
  • Review 3PL invoices


Qualifications:

  • Working expertise with Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)
  • Strong organization and time management skills; able to work under pressure.
  • Preferred prior experience with SAP and WMS
  • Ability to facilitate resolution to problems via influence
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification Desired
  • 7+ years of experience in Distribution Center Operations
  • Problem Solving and analytical capabilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management/General Business or comparable work experience
  • Experience working with a 3PL
  • Working knowledge of carrier operations, shipment routing, and distribution methods.
  • Superior leadership, coaching, management, motivation, and teamwork skills.


Scope Data:

  • Oversees volume/labor planning in a high volume fast paced environment
  • Management of IB warehouse Team Members
  • Ensures compliance to all IT/system requirements in support of the FC
  • Process flow responsibility for the planned annual number of units for the assigned warehouse


Work Environment:

  • Ability to sustain posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
  • Prolonged use of personal computer & telephone.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • May be exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50+ lbs.
  • Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
