Job Description

HOERBIGER Corporation of America is working in a dynamic market which requires the company to constantly improve on cost of parts, reduce scrap, improve lead time and make new products for the company. The Lean Leader’s role is to find improvement potentials on the shop floor, analyze processes, find possible solutions, drive the decision process and implement improvements with team of people of different departments and backgrounds. Initiatives the Lean Leader is working on can be implemented the same day or require months of preparation and implementation to be successful. The Lean Leader is a self-motivated individual, who takes pride in his/her work can organize himself/herself and finds creative ways for challenges in front of him/her.


This position is located in Pompano Beach, Florida and includes a generous relocation package.


Responsibilities


  • Driving Operational Excellence in the facility via Lean/Kaizen events, CI activities, Projects. Collaborate with fellow team members and identify opportunities for improvement, quick actions (1–2-day activity), lean events (3-5 day activity), Project (1-4 week activity). These can be Shop floor or business processes.
  • Tracking progress weekly with team members. Review project plans and team commitments against actual. Track savings/improvements against plan.
  • Facilitating of CI /LEAN events. Plan Kaizen events or CI activities; creation of the scope sheet for the activity noting primary and secondary goals and which tools will be used in the event. Plan projects for implementation (who, what, when); includes materials, contractors, employees, information, space.
  • Executing LEAN events. Lead Kaizen / Lean event. Train the team members before or during the event on the tools they will be using in the Kaizen/Lean event. Work with the team on the floor hands on to run trails, implement new processes, monitor production runs document the results.
  • Educating others in LEAN. Train on the Toyota Production System Tools (Std. Work, Mistake proofing, Process Mapping, SWCS, VSM, etc.…). Develop Lean Leaders in organization. Train operators to identify waste. Create Work Instructions for new processes.


Qualifications


  • Experience working in manufacturing/machining environment. Able to use inspection gauges to take measurement (indicators, micrometers, calibers); understand geometrical tolerances GDT
  • 2 or 4-year degree in Engineering or Business
  • Able to analyze data in excel with formulas, Pivot charts
  • Experience in holding LEAN events, value stream analysis
  • AutoCAD 2D drafting for floor layouts (is a plus++)
  • Experience in managing teams, working within a team
  • Experience managing projects
  • Ability and experience to create presentations in software and physical media
  • 4-year experience in working in a factory environment
  • 3D drafting experience (is a plus++)
  • 2-4 years’ experience minimum as Operational Excellence Leader within organization
  • 2-year experience teaching and/or coaching Toyota Production System
  • Ability and experience to work with people from diverse cultural and educational background
  • Experience with Hoshin Kanri (Policy Deployment) a plus++
  • Lean Practitioner Certification from previous company
