Job Description
MarginEdge is looking for a rock-star Office Manager to join the Ballston office team. As someone who routinely loves to host gatherings, you will be the creative wizard and backbone that ensures our workspace continues to live up to and maintain its coveted status as a Washington Post "Best Place to Work." You can expect to partner with our dynamic, fast-moving, and motivated HR partners in helping to curate the atmosphere of a well-run machine... a machine that has fun, inspires, and works hard!
The Office Manager must be willing to work in the Arlington, VA office Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
MarginEdge: A workplace with purpose.
As a team built by former (and current!) restaurant operators, our mission is to bring operators the same energy, attention to detail, and passion that they bring to their guests. Our culture is deeply rooted in service, partially because that’s where so many of our team come from (including everyone on our Business Development team), but also because we believe it is just the right way to run a business. We design our software with profound empathy for the complexity of running a restaurant, and the goal of making the magic just a little easier for operators by taking the complex (read: very annoying) back office tasks off their plate, while empowering them with real-time data. We are venture-backed, serve more than 3,900 restaurants, and boast a 90 +% client retention rate even after COVID.
How you'll add value to MarginEdge:
People ops + HR ops + Project Management
  • Ordering and restocking snacks, coffee, and office supplies
  • Set-up and light clean-up of kitchen space for team lunches
  • Onboarding coordination (ordering business cards, completing reference checks, coordinate travel arrangements including booking hotels, flights, and transportation)
  • Together with the team, manage our Wellness Program
  • Perform ad hoc administrative tasks and projects as necessary
  • Data entry into our ATS and or HRIS
  • Decorating and making the office feel welcoming and exciting
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the office, including but not limited to:
  • Planning and placing lunch orders with our clients, including picking up catered lunches to bring to the office multiple times a week
  • Prepare and ship swag and computer equipment to new hires and current employees
  • Assist in day-to-day HR operations including but not limited to:
  • Plan and coordinate monthly happy hours
  • Prepare and ship recognition gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and any new life events for our team members
  • Ensure pending tasks are coordinated, tracked and weekly follow ups.
  • Calendar management
  • Assign and track DataWatch cards for new hires and visitors at HQ
  • Maintain constant communication with all points of contact
  • Be the event coordinator for events and our annual in-person All Hands events
To be successful in this role you've got:
  • Experience navigating Google Suite and Internet-savvy
  • Ninja-level organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable interacting professionally with team members, clients, and stakeholders
  • Take initiative to follow up on all tasks/ project that you oversee
  • Appreciation, empathy, and enthusiasm for the restaurant industry
  • High-level interpersonal skills, with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through
  • Multi-tasking master with prioritization, coordination and expedient completion of tasks
  • Extra bonus points if you have a green thumb!
  • Can maintain professional verbal and written communication skills, even in a casual atmosphere
  • Willingness to learn and make recommendations to process improvement
  • A good eye for inspiring an office space that is conducive to sparking conversations, inspiring collaboration, and promoting positive connections
What’s it like to work for MarginEdge?
Imagine the fun of a great restaurant - surrounded by a team of people (including some that you help to manage!) who care about hospitality, care about quality, and care about each other - then subtract the long nights, weekends, drunk customers at the bar...et voila, MarginEdge!
We work hard, we work fast and we fuel our work with a commitment of transparency from leadership, straight talk and trust between teams. We believe that the best people do their best work when they feel empowered - so whether you are remote or in our office (likely eating a catered lunch from our clients) you get to work with your manager to call your shot on what works best for you.
And surprising exactly no one, we are obsessed with restaurants so most water cooler talk (virtual or IRL) will probably be about the pasta at our new client’s spot in the city or the burger we just can’t get off our minds from lunch last week. In addition to being so dynamic, we stay grounded in embracing a flat organization with robust opportunities to engage with C-Suite members about any topic you have in mind.
Benefits (Shut the Front Door, They are Amazing)
In order to fuel this rocket ship, we need to build a team as passionate about our work and product as we are. We believe that top talent (that’s you!) should feel deeply connected to their work, appreciated for the time they give to building our organization and have the balance necessary to give their best during work hours and all those after-hours too.
We do this by offering a suite of kick ass benefits not only to be competitive and catch the eye of super smart people (that’s you again!) but also provide the foundation for a career you love and a life outside of work you love just as much.
  • 401(k) and matching
  • Health Savings Account with employer match (dependent upon your medical plan selection)
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off (and we mean it, we encourage your healthy work life balance!)
  • 12-week fully Paid Parental Leave
  • Stock Options to buy into everything we are doing to support this industry
  • Commuter benefits with employer contribution (excluding limos and helos - for now)
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Short/Long-Term Disability Insurance (preventative care for the win)
  • Generous Life Insurance Plan
  • Company-Paid Holidays
Our Fine Print is Bold: We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran, marital, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law. You be you. While we are proudest of our commitment to exceptional culture and creating a truly excellent work environment, we see our benefits as an extension of that belief. Our benefits package is designed to be exceptionally competitive and a reflection of our commitment to a best-in-class workplace for all.
