Job Description
Our client, a vertically integrated operator, is seeking a Director of Sales and Marketing to lead the state of New York.


The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for conceptualizing, executing, and achieving all marketing and sales goals for the state of NY. The director will work closely with the General Manager of the state, the product management team, and the Retail Operations Manager to keep a pulse on marketplace dynamics and current trends to help inform and shape product innovation and strategies to accelerate our growth.


This role will require Travel throughout the state of New York but can live anywhere within the state.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Collaborates with the Customer Service and Sales Support Associate to ensure best-in-class customer service.
  • Creates compelling marketing campaigns showcasing our thought leadership within the medical cannabis industry.
  • Leads, manages, and effectively develops a high-performing Sales, Marketing and Customer Service & Support team. Addresses any potential performance issues objectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all sales and marketing initiatives adhere to all NYS Regulations and company SOP’s .
  • Understands the products and services offering and approach of key competitors; communicate products and services differentiation to dispensaries and provide input to senior leadership
  • Develops training curriculum for retail team and manages all employee departmental training to ensure new hire and ongoing employee departmental training is conducted regularly and signed off on my employees receiving this training. This includes ensuring all employees are trained on SOP’s and policies on a regular basis.
  • Partners with Human Resources to interview, recruit and hire new team members, as necessary.
  • Ensures quality educational programs for dispensary customers, creating opportunities to influence patients and caregivers.
  • Builds and maintains dispensary and customer relationships across the State especially with key strategic customers and embodies our company vision and values to enable an impactful and sustainable retail presence across the State.
  • Leads the development of marketing and promotional materials for tradeshows, congresses, key opinion leader advisory meetings, and board meetings
  • Manages all social media and website presence to improve social media reputation and recognition.
  • Oversees and act as liaison between product management, education, and patients’ affairs as well as public relations.
  • Partners with Marketing to help develop engaging content, execute programming and educational materials/tools and branded swag, which are consistently a cut above our competition
  • Responsible for all aspects of marketing projects including meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis, and tracking/monitoring procedures
  • Develops briefs for design, copy, image, and content needs in the development of sales tools, collateral, advertisements, tradeshow booth graphics, events, websites, and other promotional activities
  • Establishes and articulates marketing project scope, strategy, and objectives to appropriate employees and key leadership
  • Manages creative production of online and offline marketing assets, graphic design, video production, and web development, from the initial concept to finished product and execution
  • Oversees quality implementation of all sales and marketing strategies, including creating, launching, and overseeing campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR – for both internal and external audiences.


Require Skills and Education:


  • NY cannabis experience preferred.
  • Understanding of marketing project scope, strategy, and objectives
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to run data and marketing reports and analyze data in excel and other programs.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in overseeing marketing, data analytics, sales and customer service
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Management, or related field
  • Cannabis experience required


Compensation: $120,000- $130,000 plus bonus and benefits, Relocation Assistance Provided.
