Nurse (Perioperative) Jobs

Duties

• Perform circulator duty, and if required, those of a scrub person during surgical procedures.
• Supervise and lead other professional and paraprofessional nursing personnel in the care of patients.
• Teach patients and significant others regarding surgical procedures and routines expected during the perioperative period.
• Function as preceptor/instructor/expert resource for reservists, and newly assigned personnel.
• Provide comprehensive professional nursing care for patients in an outpatient Operating Room setting.
• Conduct postoperative nursing assessment immediately following the procedure to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care to achieve patient goals and expected outcomes.

• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
