New Grad Registered Nurse (RN) - Trauma Operating Room

Full-Time - 2 12’s 2 8’s, weekend, call and holidays

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is looking for an RN with Critical Care experience for our patients in the Shock Trauma OR. The nursing and support staff draws from their emergency medicine and critical care knowledge and expertise to provide quality care to patients.

The Trauma Operating Room is a specialized surgical suite that provides services to trauma patients who arrive at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The 9 operating room department offers technologically advanced surgeries to patients undergoing an emergent need. The staff of the Trauma OR provide care to the critically wounded residents of the state of Maryland.
New Graduate Expectations:

  • Is accountable to patient, family and team members for care provided, and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance.
  • Functions effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Participates in activities to develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the unit level.
  • This role is reserved for the new graduate or nurse with less than 12 months experience.
  • The nurse will utilize this time to learn the institution and nursing practice. It is expected that a nurse in this role successfully pass the probationary period within 12 months (18 months maximum with a defined action plan developed with manager).
  • Utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional nurse.

Qualifications
  • Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) Registered Nursing license or Compact State licensure
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
