New Grad RN ICU Bridge Program
New Graduate RNs intereted in Critical Care
Fall 2023 & Winter 2024
Medicine / Telemetry Unit Bridge to Medical Intensive Care- MICU or Cardiac ICU- CCU
The ICU Bridge Program provides a structured orientation to new graduate RNs who desire to work in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Upon hire, new graduate RNs begin their careers on a medicine/telemetry or IMC unit within the Department of Medicine. All new graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in the yearlong Adult Nurse Residency Program (NRP) to facilitate the successful transition to professional nursing practice. In addition to NRP, and after successful completion of unit orientation (~9 weeks), RNs will spend several immersion shifts with an ICU Preceptor in the Intensive Care Unit, while maintaining full-time employment on their original unit of hire. Following graduation from NRP, a debrief session & interview will be held between the ICU Leadership team and RN to ensure readiness for transfer. Transition to the ICU will take place 15-24 months from original hire date. Critical Care Courses will be offered following transfer, focusing on nursing care of the critically ill patient. RN to maintain full-time employment on the ICU for a minimum of 24 months post-transfer.
Shifts: 12 hour day/night rotating shifts
