Our Company
- Promotes compliance with local, state and federal laws, Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health care program regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Reviews hospice branch-level physician certifications, orders, and other documentation for performance improvement purposes and for compliance with state and federal regulations and statutes.
- Provides patient care management advice by telephone or electronic communication to local programs, including their clinical staff, Executive Directors, and hospice physicians. This role is only intended to offer advice and not define, provide orders, or assume the role of a treating physician. This role must adhere to state licensing laws.
- Current and valid National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Board certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Associations Bureau of Osteopathic Specialties (AOA-BOS) (primary care specialty preferred)
- Doctorate degree in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine from an accredited medical school
- Experience with and ability to work within a distributed physician medical staff (or similar) structure.
- Possesses a reputation and positive image in the community as an authority in hospice and palliative medicine.
- Ability to travel up to 15-25%
- Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certification from ABMS or AOA-BOS, and/or Hospice Medical Director Certification Board certification
- Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine within at least one state within region of responsibility
- Familiarity with and ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting.
- Should possess exemplary leadership skills with a passion for optimizing the care of patients with hospice and palliative care needs.
- Current and unrestricted DEA Registration for Schedules 2 through 5 and any applicable state controlled substance prescribing registration
- Is familiar and skilled with working within an interdisciplinary setting.
