POSITION CLASSIFICATION

Position Summary


The National Director of Sales is an important role in leading the growth for EarthKinds brand(s). This role has direct impact on the company's future growth as we continue to build scale for the EarthKind business and significantly broaden the awareness for its natural pest control products with both new and existing key retailers. For this role, we need a deal-driven sales leader with a proven record or success in leading sales growth through distributor and broker networks. A leader who understands retail dynamics and can execute EarthKind’s vision in retail formats, with superior resourcefulness, motivation and accountability of a remote brokers and distributors. As this role works across almost all EarthKind’s functions, it requires strong collaboration skills and attention to detail to meet and exceed customer expectations in new and/or adjacent placement execution, and follow through with brand performance at store level


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


This position reports to the CEO


Accountabilities


Sales/Network Generation (70%)


  • Lead rapid new sales growth with established national broker team and distributor networks. (50%)
  • Lead all key customer development activity managing our Stay Away business across mass, grocery, natural drug and retail channels. (20%)


Customer Management (10%)


  • Manage Customer P&L including Trade Spending and all OpE.


Strategic Planning (10%)


  • Develop Annual Business Plan for partnering retailers that deliver on revenue and profit goals and works across company channel strategy, then monitor progress to goal.


Analytics/Reporting (10%)


  • Manage sales analytics and forecasting needs.

Requirements


Education


  • Minimum of five year’s experience working directly for a Vice President of Sales or CEO (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years retail consumer products experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) required.


Experience


  • Strong sales analysis capabilities: must be proficient in analyzing both outside vendor and account specific data with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans
  • Proficient in budget creation, broker management, and account planning
  • 8+ years of progressive, customer-facing grocery/key account headquarters sales experience
  • Experience with a key account history, particularly in pioneering brand introduction and early stage brand development
  • Project management experience with a proven ability to secure cross-functional alignment, internally and externally

Travel


  • Regular travel (50-75% of working time) to markets where business decisions are made


Work Environment


  • Occasionally may be exposed to dust, odors, oils, cleaning solvents, lubricants, and noise if a walk through the manufacturing and warehouse environments is required.
  • Works in an office environment.
  • Standard 40-hour work week
  • Will need to respond to emails and other communications during non-business hours
  • May require to work some evenings and weekends.


Physical Requirements


  • Work requires visual acuity in order to prepare and analyze data at a distance close to the eyes and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.
  • Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
  • Hearing with normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations.
  • Ability to communicate orally with customers, management, and coworkers is crucial.
  • No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.
  • Sitting for extended periods is common but ability to stand for extended periods of time is required
