Job Description
Under the direction of the Multimedia Content Producer, the Multimedia Content Coordinator will assist in the sourcing, clearing and licensing of multimedia materials for an online and print Asian American Pacific Islander multimedia textbook. A primary objective will be to ensure that all multimedia content used complies with legal requirements, copyright regulations, and licensing agreements while maintaining the highest standard of quality. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of multimedia clearance and licensing practices, excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, a collaborative approach to working with a large team, and a passion for bringing compelling Asian American and Pacific Islander content to our audiences.
The AAPI Multimedia Textbook is a narrative change project that brings together distinguished scholarship, open access technology, and ethnic studies pedagogy to deepen public knowledge about who we are, strengthen students' historical empathy and bring AAPI stories into every classroom. It is a free AAPI resource geared toward students and instructors in 9th-14th grade classrooms.
This is a hybrid position.

Required/Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Film and/or Media Studies, Communication, Publishing or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Required
Experience (at least 2-3 years) in multimedia licensing, copyright research, or intellectual property management, preferably within the media and/or publishing industry.
Required
Experience in collaborating with a large team, and willingness to learn and adapt as needed.
Required
Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with copyright holders, content providers, and internal teams
Required
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities to manage multiple licensing projects simultaneously.
Required
Familiarity with content asset management systems and databases.
Required
Proficiency in using project management software and tools.
Preferred
Creative mindset with the ability to identify multimedia materials that align with book content and themes.

Strong analytical skills to assess licensing costs, evaluate rights packages, and make data-driven decisions.

A passion for storytelling and multimedia content, with a keen eye for ensuring high-quality content.
