General Summary


The Senior Manager of Revenue Cycle Projects leads the Revenue Cycle Services (RCS) project management team to deliver on all RCS projects, ensuring successful and on-time project delivery. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Revenue Cycle Services project team, developing operational project plans, and managing throughout the project development life cycle as well as effectively communicating project expectations to RCS leadership and all stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing procedural and protocol guidelines for project management standards within the RCS project management team.


Specific duties will include the development of project plans and schedules, managing resources, issues, risks, and costs, creating data analyses, researching leading practices, completing project tasks, documenting key project aspects, contributing critical thinking, and conducting follow-up on tasks. Responsible for communicating and/or developing presentations for all levels of the organization as well as contributing to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.


Responsibilities And Tasks


Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the day-to-day operations of the revenue cycle services project management team, with the overall objective of successful and timely completion of all projects.


  • Monitor departmental performance to ensure that projects are completed on time and that status updates are communicated effectively to appropriate audiences.
  • Develop procedural guidelines, policies, and templates for project management. Establishes and maintains project management standards in alignment with revenue cycle goals and objectives.
  • Provide support and guidance to the project management team to identify and address project risks and barriers.
  • Supervise, directly or indirectly, personnel engaged in the department. This includes interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation, training, and development.


Directly manage high-impact revenue cycle projects from planning to completion within proper scope, budget, and schedule.


  • Produce clear and concise reports and summaries to communicate business value and project status to stakeholders and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Direct project stakeholders in the selection of metrics and controls to measure project success. Implement continuous quality control of processes and deliverables.
  • Analyze issues, risks, and costs associated with projects. Create and request data analysis to support data-driven decision-making in all projects.
  • Develop and utilize project plans and schedules in order to track deliverables, monitor progress, and provide status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Consider short and long-term strategy and revenue cycle initiatives in the prioritization of projects. Analyze project interdependencies to effectively structure schedules, maximize utilization of resources, and understand potential impacts.
  • Contribute critical thinking to project teams to address challenges and suggest potential solutions. Demonstrate ability to lead a team of peers, customers/clients, and/or leaders to reach agreements and potential solutions to challenges within a project.


Establish a framework that will enable the project management team to effectively set up, plan, coordinate, manage, report, and communicate projects in coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.


  • Provide support and guidance to the project management team to ensure that they are able to schedule, facilitate, and document efficient and effective project meetings and provide well-written status updates or deliverables as needed for each project.
  • Ensure that project objectives are met by monitoring & measuring progress regularly to identify variances to plan and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Monitor project management team tracking and reporting on project performance against established timelines or budget constraints.
  • Identify project support needs and clarify specific requirements for each project assigned. Designate project management team resources according to project needs and priorities.
  • Ensure that all project plans and timelines are clear, logical, and realistic. Identify or develop project management resources and templates to meet the needs of various projects.
  • Identify any project barriers or risks; identify data analyses that will accurately size and scope any barrier or risk and escalate to appropriate management levels for decision.


Identify project support needs and clarify specific requirements for each project assigned. Designate project management team resources according to project needs and priorities.

Continuously develop personal project management skills and relevant healthcare/revenue services knowledge, and support the growth and development of the project management team.


  • Research project management methodologies and industry best practices to identify and implement new tools, resources, and techniques to support revenue cycle projects.
  • Create an environment to foster the professional development and growth of the project management team.
  • Contribute to organizational and departmental process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field is required, or an equivalent of five years of progressive experience in project management is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience developing and analyzing financial and statistical information is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in large-scale revenue cycle services is required.
  • A minimum of five years of management responsibility is preferred.


Must be proficient in using Microsoft applications such as Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Expert knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Strong proficiency in the development of visual aids, workflows, and presentations to communicate project statuses and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple medium-to large-scale project teams simultaneously. Ability to set up, plan, manage, report, and communicate the completion of projects within the proper scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management methodology including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations, and run team meetings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full scope of the revenue cycle management workflows, processes, and technologies. Knowledge of the full scope of finance shared services, including principles of accounting and financial analysis.
