Monitoring Engineer (Must Us Citizen/Greencard/Must Datadog/Python)

MUST BE a US Citizen or Green Card holder!!!!!!!

Can be in NYC (hybrid 2-3 days a week or FULLY REMOTE if in other locations)

Our company are hiring here on a W2 basis for a large, stable and growing exchange company.

Must have computer science background or degree with at least 8-15 years experience as an SRE with STRONG monitoring experience.

Job Summary:

Financial firm seeking a Monitoring Engineer to migrate monitoring and alerting systems from Nagios/Grafana/ Prometheus to Datadog. The larger team creates market data software, data analysis tools and data capture software including data pipelines between stock exchanges, data lakes, and market data systems. Data lakes exist in both AWS Cloud, S3 and on-prem Linux servers. All technology is completely proprietary in real-time, high-performance computing, Linux CentOS environment. Fully remote role – Eastern time zone – 9-5 EST hours.

Must Have:

· Computer science degree

· 5+ years with any combo of Datadog and Nagios or Grafana or Prometheus

· Strong Linux, CLI, Server Arch, Commands, Scripting

· Proficient Python

· Basic knowledge of Git, GitLab or GitHub.

The Monitoring Engineer Consultant will be responsible for monitoring high performance systems. In this role, you will be tasked with migrating disparate monitoring controls to the Datadog platform. This will require careful planning, testing and a thorough understanding of interconnected systems.

Qualifications:

· 3+ years of professional experience with Linux

· 2+ years of Python scripting

· Proficiency with Linux CLI and an understanding of Linux server architecture and operation

· Experience with performance monitoring in Linux

· Strong operational knowledge of DataDog, Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus and InfluxDB

· Understanding of Git workflows - GitLab and/or GitHub

Nice to have, but not required:

· Bash scripting

· Ansible, AWS, S3, NFS, Wireshark, TCPDump, Jira/Confluence, Docker
