Job Description
Primary Function


The Shift Manager manages all aspects of production and provides leadership for employees on second shift.


Responsibilities And Tasks


  • Work with all employees to ensure production/yield requirements are met on a daily basis.
  • Ensure safety of all employees.
  • Assist supervisors with supervising and training production employees.
  • Participates in development of employees within designated areas.
  • Work with Quality Assurance department personnel to ensure all food safety and specifications are met.
  • Responsible for entire shift operations including oversight for maintenance personnel.
  • Enforce company policies/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Administer corrective action plans and disciplinary actions to ensure consistency.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • 1 – 10 salary and hourly employees.
  • This is a Leader of People position with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management.


Minimum Education And Experience


  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
  • At least 3-5 years relevant experience in similar production environment; preferably in the food industry.
  • Previous experience in poultry industry, preferably with First and Second processing.


Preferred Education And Experience


  • Previous thermal processing experience.
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience.


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues independently.
  • Proficient English language knowledge and skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft office programs.
  • High work capacity, dependable, results oriented and strong sense of urgency.
  • Working knowledge of poultry processing, food safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, GMPs and HACCP.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated success building effective teams with proven ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization.
  • Proficient knowledge of production processes, general line maintenance and staffing.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.


REQUIRED PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:


  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Understand and interpret data while drawing logical conclusions based on available inputs.
  • Critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems.
