MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides short-term mental health counseling services and psycho-educational outreach to enrolled UW students to enhance their personal and academic success and ameliorate barriers to that success. A key role of this position is to support and empower individuals from underrepresented and marginalized communities in order to promote student retention and graduation. This position also provides professional consultation to UW faculty, staff, and students regarding student behavior, mental health, and academic challenges in order to enhance the campus climate for student success. This position will include focus on providing counseling and outreach services for students in the Allen School of Computer Science.
This position involves daily intense contact with UW students in psychological or academic distress. Consultation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and appropriate referrals - on and off campus - will be required. This position requires knowledge and skills in serving the diverse student population within the (School(s)). Cultural proficiency and expertise working with BIPOC students is required. This position requires excellent crisis intervention skills.
This person will provide consultation primarily to faculty and staff within the named Allen School, and may occasionally provide consultation to other campus colleagues regarding students in the Allen School. The person will be part of an interdisciplinary team designed to enhance the mental health of UW students, create a healthier and more inclusive campus climate, and to respond to mental health crises.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
