Job Summary:
Transcribes dictated operative reports, discharge summaries, history, physical examinations and other medical reports meeting required quality and productivity standards. Proofreads medical reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Medical transcriptionist experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Medical Transcriptionist: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Prepares and maintains files, keeps records and performs other routine clerical tasks, as needed.
- Composes and types routine correspondence.
- Answers telephone, takes messages, and provides information of a routine nature. Makes appointments and serves as receptionist, as needed.
- Edits and transcribes reports for inclusion in the patient records. Uses department and organization databases to run reports as required.
