Overview


The Librarian is responsible for assisting the Supervisor of Library Services in efficiently and effectively providing library services across WellStar. Responsibilities include assisting in selecting, acquiring, advertising, providing, organizing and eva


Responsibilities


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

1. Conducting Literature Searches for providers, nurses, resident, leadership, and Staff
a. Formulates the search strategy
b. Research and finds evidence-based information
c. Submits findings to patron
2. Managing Interlibrary Loans through DOCLINE
a. Enters request into DOCLINE system
b. Fulfills requests and sends requested items to providers
c. Manages and resubmits unfulfilled requests
d. Completes loan request from other libraries

3. Providing Reference Services
a. Answers library inquires face to face, virtually or over the phone
b. Provides direction on usage of library databases and equipment
c. Tracks number and category of reference questions
4. Website maintenance
a. Updates website pages such as “Library News” and ACOG MOC articles
b. Adds new links for new resources as needed
c. Cleans up dead links and remove outdated information
5. Manage the daily operations of assigned library
a. Maintains the library equipment which includes calling technicians for repairs
b. Keeps copier paper available for printers
c. Contacts facilities management for light bulb changes and thermostat control
d. Keeps physical library clean and orderly. Contact housekeeping as necessary


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education

Master's Degree Information/Library Science
Required Minimum Experience
Minimum 2 years Experience in a medical or hospital library
Ability to perform literature searches for relevant evidence-based information
Knowledgeable of DOCLINE
Experience teaching evidence-based literature searching skill to diverseaudiences.
Knowledgeable of medical library databases such as PubMed, OVID, UpToDate
Experience in conducting orientations
Experience in evaluating new library resources for purchase consideration
Required Minimum Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of general library practices and procedures
Excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong customer-service focus
Excellent research and searching skills
