Job Summary
- Fills in logbooks and special forms (pertinent to department)
- Assist providers and nurses with patient care activities.
- Follows policies and procedures.
- Maintains the sample log and pharmaceutical log
- Assists patients in pharmaceutical assistance programs as needed.
- Assists with monthly reports, i.e., hand hygiene, infection control, equipment checklist.
- Performs waived testing as ordered by the provider.
- Keeps exam rooms and treatment areas clean per infection control policies and procedures, and well stocked.
- Calls in prescriptions.
- Performs phlebotomy.
- Accurately utilizes medical equipment as trained.
- Accurately processes electronic lab and diagnostic orders.
- Logs results per policies and procedures.
- Maintains use of universal precautions at all times.
- Orders and maintains inventory of medications.
- Preloads patient's medical information into the Electronic Health Records
- Checks for expiration dates and disposes of expired medications correctly and in a timely manner.
- Accurately enters documentation into E.H.R. (Chief Complaint and Vital Signs)
- Performs other related duties as indicated or when requested by supervisor.
- Reprocesses medical equipment according to establish policies and procedures.
- Accurately obtains health history and rectifies medication.
- Performs department specific procedures.
- Serves as translator between the patient and healthcare provider when needed.
- Administers medications by oral, Intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal routes.
- Obtains accurate vital signs from the patient and reports abnormal findings verbally to nurse or provider.
- Assists in referral process within integrated care model and outside specialty providers.
- Efforts are generally responsive to work flow, must be able to work independently and prioritize work on a daily or weekly basis, subject to occasional reprioritization by others
- Impact of work performance could result in a noticeable impact in the organization and may involve management attention.
- May be required to perform duties and responsibilities not listed in this description, on a temporary or long-term basis.
- May be required to perform the duties of other employees, including supervisors/managers, in their absence.
- Education/Training Level:
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Technology Skills:
- Certification or Registration as Medical Assistant
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
- Communication Skills:
- Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
- Effectively uses Electronic Health Records
- Proficient on computers
