As a Med Staff Office Coordinator, you will assist with credentialing and privileging providers which allows additional patient care access. Your primary duties will include:
  • Coordinating the administration of all medical staff services.
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and execution of medical staff events.
  • Supporting the activities for medical staff office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of medical staff events and functions. handles the maintenance of privileging and other provider related data.
  • Coordinates billing, collection and deposit of staff dues, including maintenance of related records.
  • Utilizes effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate discussions and decision making.
  • Coordinates administrative support services for medical staff and officers, including processing of applications and appointments, orientation of new staff members and communication of information between staff departments and administration.
  • Assists in the preparation, organization, minutes, and follow-up for the Medical Executive Committee and other medical staff committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Utilizes current trends and practices in all aspects of credentialing and privileging.

Education:

  • Bachelor's preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications:

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Work Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills along with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, NCQA, CMS state license requirements, and other regulatory and accrediting entities.
  • Minimum of two years of direct experience.
  • Knowledgeable of current trends and practices in all aspects of credentialing and privileging.
  • A Bachelor's degree may offset the experience requirement. Experience to include: Demonstrated experience in a hospital and/or managed care setting; working with multi-specialty groups and/or other integrated delivery systems; Medical Staff Services and Credentialing experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • In some locations, ability to move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
