Mainstay Medical is a medical device company focused on marketing an innovative implantable neurostimulation system, ReActiv8®, for people with disabling chronic mechanical Low Back Pain. The Role:
The position of Materials Manager supports the company’s Operations. The position is responsible for tasks associated with both purchasing and production planning. This includes purchasing, procurement, production and materials requirements planning, inventory management, and maintaining supplier relationships.
Position Responsibilities:
- Comply with the policies, procedures and work instructions of Mainstay Medical and its subsidiaries.
- Understand business needs; builds credibility and rapport with colleagues.
- Request and analyze quotes and terms, negotiate prices and schedule with suppliers.
- Initiate purchase requests for parts, equipment, services, and product to support Operations, Product Development, and the customer groups (Clinical and Sales).
- Assist in development and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Have knowledge and ability to develop purchase and production plans.
- Work with supplier quality management to identify and qualify potential future suppliers to support product development and operations programs and build and maintain good relationships with existing suppliers.
- Understand and plan transportation logistics between company facilities, suppliers and customers. This includes risk mitigation, cost and time savings analysis.
- Assist in coordination of product development and quality changes/updates between Mainstay and suppliers.
- Management of inventories, including physical reconciliation, and coordinating with finance to ensure that internal control, financial reporting and audit requirements are satisfied.
- Assists in planning operational product strategy and scheduling of new products.
- Support developing plans and schedules for product and inventory, based on clinical and marketing forecasts and demands, liaise with finance to review and finalize product and inventory plans for inclusion in annual budget and monthly forecasts.
- Comply with procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.
- Execute production plan through the creation, release, and management of work orders.
- Assist with product and component inventory by utilizing tracking spreadsheets and logs, along with ERP system when available.
- Request quotes, create purchase requests, distribute purchase orders to suppliers, scheduling and follow-up, product receipt and assistance with finance in reviewing and reconciliation of purchase requisitions, purhcase orders, and invoices.
- Develop and track metrics around material management to support business efficiency.
- Maintain supplier contracts and quote files as a reference for future products and services.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical device manufacturing.
- Start-up or SME company experience an advantage.
- 7+ years of experience with at least 2 years of management experience.
- 5+ years experience in purchasing/planning (medical device preferred).
- Bachelors required.
- Experience in inventory management, production planning, ERP and MRP, purchasing, and vendor management required.
- Experience working with MS Excel spreadsheets and ERP systems.
The salary range for this position is $112,000 to 130,000/year; however, base pay offered will take into account a range of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes a range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
