Position: Master's Level Mental Health Clinician - Community Violence Response Team
Department: Surgery
Schedule: Full Time, (40 Hours Monday-Thursday, Days)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Violence Response Team (CVRT) is a VOCA funded program of Boston Medical Center's Trauma Division. The Mental Health Clinician provides crisis intervention, health advocacy and trauma-focused short and long-term counseling to patients and their families who have been impacted by interpersonal violence. This position provides both inpatient and outpatient therapeutic care as well as community based therapy to patients and their family members within the Greater Boston community.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
CLINICIAN DUTIES:

• Provide crisis assessment and intervention for patients and their family members affected by violent crime or homicide
• Participate in weekly meetings of the Community Violence Response Team
• Participate in weekly supervision sessions
• Provide assessment and on-going mental health counseling services to family members who have been affected by homicide and patients or family members affected by life threatening interpersonal violence both in the hospital and in community settings
• Participate in weekly staff meetings with the hospital based partner program
• Provide outreach to community agencies and staff at Boston Medical Center serving families affected by violence, in order to coordinate services for families as well as enhance access to our services
• Provide collateral services necessary to support these families, including contacts with court personnel, medical providers, and community agencies working with survivors of homicide as well as other community partners

OTHER DUTIES:

• Perform other duties as needed
• Utilizes hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital's mission and goals
• Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures
• Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, to ensure that exceptional customer service and patient care may be provided

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:

• Requirements: MSW, MA
• Master's degree in mental health field (MSW, Masters in Mental Health Counseling -required)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

• Licensure (LCSW/LICSW/LMHC) preferred
• MA Driver's License required - active with access to own vehicle

EXPERIENCE:

• Clinical counseling experience required
• Experience in crisis intervention and trauma informed care desirable

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of the impact of trauma on family systems and communities
• Bilingual or multi-lingual skills appropriate to the patient population served is a plus
• Ability to function independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to promote health equity and advocacy
• Adherence to cultural sensitivity and anti-racist practices
• Ability to keep organized and timely written documentation
• Experience in health or hospital settings desirable
• Knowledge of community resources and agencies that serve families affected by trauma or violence
• Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team
