The Broward County Board of County Commissioners Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Marketing Manager, Marketing/Customer Relations.

General Description


Develops and implements business development and/or public relations plan for an agency.


Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.


Minimum Education And Experience Requirements


Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, business administration, public relations, or a closely related field.


Requires four (4) years in marketing, advertising, special events coordination, or public relations work or closely related experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.


Special Certifications And Licenses Required


None.


Preferences


  • 2+ years of experience as a Crisis Communications-Public Information Officer
  • 2+ years of experience as a Social Media Expert managing organizational communications for Facebook, Twitter, Hoot Suite, Instagram, and YouTube platforms
  • 2+ years of experience in Advertising/Communications Plan Development, and working in a Bargaining Union environment
  • Certified Web Designer
  • Master's degree
  • Certified Public Information Officer Basic Certification; Certified Public Information Officer Advance Certification
  • PAQC certification; FEMA 200 / IS 200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents; FEMA 700 / IS-700.A: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction
  • Transit Leadership Program
  • Accreditation in Public Relations; Certified Special Events Professional
  • 2+ years of experience Creating Community Outreach & Promotion Strategies; Direct Public Relations in Transit, local government, marketing campaigns, website design, or graphic layout.
  • 2+ years of experience developing Advertising Campaigns and leading Event Planning
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.


Key Job Responsibilities


  • Available to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, or as needed to complete assignments and/or tasks in support of Broward County
  • Public speaking and media relations
  • Affiliation with marketing, advertising, media industry, and/or other related media industry organizations
  • Generating sales leads
  • Managing budgets
  • Managing and coordinating community outreach events
  • Managing, coordinating, and facilitating focus groups
  • Managing and leading a team, providing direction, encouragement, evaluations, coaching, and recruitment
  • Utilizing search engine optimization and management to develop the organization's marketing strategies
  • Developing and implementing successful marketing and advertising campaigns


Supports supervisor in the planning, implementation, and management of all of the agency's marketing, public relations, advertising, social and new media, community outreach, contracts, and reports programs; supports and supervises the agency's marketing efforts, including trade missions, trade shows, conferences, and presentations.


Manages agency website, including the development of new content, design, and updating of information. Coordinates and supervises web-hosting vendor; manages agency publications from development to printing; coordinates and supervises publishing vendor.


Responds to media, community, and elected officials' requests.


Manages staff; assigns and reviews jobs, discusses projects, and division and group goals, prioritizes workflow, organizes staff meetings, encourages staff training, and implements group work efficiencies; reviews staff performance.


Communicates marketing activities; responds to public, interagency, and external requests for information.


Administers advertising, promotional, internal and external printing, and publicity budget for the agency; organizes and coordinates advertising buys, including research and review of options, and scheduling; follows County purchasing processes, directs ad creation, confirms ad placement, and makes payments.


Writes marketing and strategic business plans, creates presentations, and produces various reports on behalf of the agency for a wide variety of audiences.


Attends industry networkers and regularly sites different hotels, restaurants, businesses, etc. to stay informed and connected; plans organizes and executes pre-promotion trips, tradeshows, site inspections, and familiarization trips.


Supervises and develops accurate and meaningful copy for press releases and content for publications, brochures, social media, and other marketing materials.


Performs related work as assigned.
