The Marketing and Communications Manager provides comprehensive support to the marketing and promotion efforts of the Ogden Downtown Alliance by working to ensure efficient and effective communication to key stakeholders, supporting downtown business marketing, social media management and developing and upholding overall Ogden Downtown brand, visibility, and trust.

Works Alongside: Digital Marketing Coordinator
Exempt Position: This is an exempt position. Office hours are Monday – Thursday, 9:00am – 3:00pm. Evening and weekend hours will be required for special events, community meetings and presentations.
Pay Rate: $40,000 to $50,000 annually, dependent on experience
Core Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive communication coordination for specific event development and support, including: Farmers Market Ogden, the Historic 25th Street Car Show and Harvest Moon Celebration.
- Write and distribute press releases for special events and other ODA projects.
- Develop and manage paid advertisements for special events as needed.
- Work with relevant staff members to prepare website, marketing, and social media statistical reports to review with internal staff and the Board of Directors.
- Manage the visual and written content for all ODA managed social identities, including: Farmers Market Ogden, Historic 25th Street and Nine Rails Creative District.
- Create and execute an annual marketing and communications plan in line with Ogden Downtown Alliance’s mission, vision and guiding strategic plan document.
- Aid in the organization and execution of promotional pop-up events and competitions, such as Trick or Treat Streets and Window Wonderland, two holiday window decorating contests for downtown businesses.
- Create editorial content and grassroot campaigns for events and business promotions as needed.
- Work with the Digital Marketing Coordinator to manage and maintain a library of photography and video assets for easy accessibility in Dropbox.
- Write copy for monthly e-newsletters and advertisements as needed.
- Ensure accuracy of web content by consistently reviewing and updating events, business features and special event listings for ogdendowntown.com.
- Define brand mission, vision, and voice, based on strong consumer and market landscape insights.
- Coordinate and manage media coverage for special events and other ODA projects as directed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent Ogden Downtown Alliance on Weber State University’s College Town Marketing Coalition and the Downtown Ogden Marketing Coordinators Round Table.
- Attend district networking events, City Council meetings and additional meetings when applicable.
- Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the businesses and services available in the Central Business District of Ogden City.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provide support at ODA events as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Capable of working independently, as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the greater Ogden area, including: attractions, things to do, restaurants, hotels and other tourism related assets.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or other design softwares.
- Must have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include occasional evening or weekend work.
- Experience managing a small team, or supervising.
- Ability to prioritize and handle simultaneous projects while meeting competing deadlines.
- A passion for shopping local and supporting the Ogden community!
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
- Familiar with latest marketing technologies and trends, especially social media.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
- Well-organized, self-motivated and proactive.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move about for long periods while working at events.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds, with or without the help of others.
- Must be able to perceive and evaluate design elements to create printed and electronic promotional materials.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas in person, in writing, over the phone and to small or large groups.
