Kawasaki Precision Machinery, (U.S.A.), Inc., headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI and a division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., has an immediate opening for an Manufacturing Operations Manager

As an Manufacturing Operations Manager you are responsible for all aspects of production and distribution, overseeing daily production, purchasing, and coordinating the distribution of product. The manager is also responsible for planning and monitoring strategic, operational and administrative programs, projects and services to the organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Operations

• Manage and direct all manufacturing activities to ensure completion of customer requirements
• Develop and drive strategic priorities and KPI for operational functions
• Maintains operations staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, as well as coaching, counseling, and counseling employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Demonstrates leadership skills that contribute to developing employee growth and safety in the workplace
• Work closely with the Sales department to coordinate the scheduling of production
• Assess performance indicators and take appropriate actions to ensure schedule, cost and quality goals are met
• Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuous improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance through the deployment of continuous improvement framework
• Evaluate operational performance of the group to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, job promotions, etc
• Manage budgets and monitor performance, to achieve product delivery and cost requirements

2. Distribution

• Develop required staffing levels for current and future business needs
• Oversee the shipping & receiving department
• Hold the Distribution department accountable for good productivity and good safety practices
• Lead distribution to meet world class standards
• Assist Distribution with shipping & receiving tasks
• Serve as a resource for the Distribution Supervisor when challenges arise

Education and Experience:

• BA or BS in Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment
• Strong emotional intelligence skills
• Enjoys coaching and growing a team
• 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role
