Job Description

If you are a professional Manufacturing Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Ontario, Ohio location, you will play a leadership role in improving the manufacturing processes, production layouts and material flow at the Mansfield manufacturing facility.

You will develop and implement common manufacturing processes and Best Practices within plant operations. You will also be responsible for achieving Best Customer Service and Perfect Execution objectives. Additionally, this role will establish and implement common Lean Best Practices via work standardization across all product lines within the facility to achieve Key Performance Indicators.

AS A MANUFACTURING ENGINEER YOU WILL:

  • Review BOMs
  • Provide leadership to the organization in rolling out the continuous improvement philosophy and continuous improvement tools for familiarization and implementation.
  • Work with Perfect Execution to identify, define, and implement scope improvement activities to drive operational performance improvements and cost reduction using Lean Manufacturing Tools and methods.
  • Implement new parts within our Oracle MRP system
    • Review BOMs
    • Setup Routers thru the facility
  • Develop Operational Method Sheets
  • Improve Material Flow by identifying and eliminating waste within Value Streams.
  • Coordinate initiatives and objectives with other departments, including production, planning/scheduling, supply chain, warehouse, receiving, shipping, ESH, strategic business unit, etc.
  • Implement 5S+1
  • Lead ad-hoc problem-solving teams to tackle specific issues identified by business KPI’s.
  • Manage and direct site level Strategic Initiative projects. Responsible for on-time execution of projects and attainment of key metrics.
  • Lead and facilitate cross functional teams to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies, such as Kaizen events, setup reduction projects, standardized work methodologies, value stream mapping, and 5S+1.
  • Coordinate Product Line moves to include the following:
    • Re-layout product lines that reduces space and encompasses single piece flow
    • Implement Standardize Work that focuses on meeting takt time
    • Develop Operational Method Sheets
    • Implement 5S+1
  • Support the Customer Care Initiative.
  • Implement Standardize Work that focuses on meeting takt time
  • Work directly with Engineering and Marketing on New Product Development.
    • Design for manufacturability will be included on New Product Designs
  • Position requires travel. This includes (but not limited to) on-site assistance and facilitating product line moves.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Excellent analytic, communication, presentation and facilitation/training skills
  • 5 years of related professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree or in the absence of a degree equivalent experience
  • Must possess strong leadership and communication skills and be able to influence people when planning and facilitating continuous improvement projects. Communication, confrontation and negotiation skills are critical.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in continuous improvement, problem solving techniques and project management. Training and execution of Lean Manufacturing Tools.
  • Demonstrated background with manufacturing processes including CNC, CAM, machining of all types, welding, assembly

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred, Operations Management, Business
  • Lean Certifications
