Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Reporting to an Underwriting Director or Select Business Center Head, the Manager, Select Field Underwriting is responsible for managing and developing a staff of Account Executives as well as collaborating with the Regional Underwriting Director and Sales Director(s) to implement marketing, sales, and underwriting strategies in support of short and long-term business plans.
What Will You Do?
  • In conjunction with Underwriting Director/Select Business Center Head, provide coaching and training for underwriting staff based on results of QFP and C.U.R.E. processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Help to set objectives for underwriting staff and regularly deliver formal feedback on these objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between Sales Executives and Account Executives.
  • Take responsibility for quality assurance reviews of assigned underwriting staff in accordance with agreed upon sample standards.
  • Provide input to Underwriting Director/Select Business Center Head and Sales Director during the agency planning process.
  • Energize staff to achieve long and short-term business strategies that reflect local market competitive conditions and meet growth and profit objectives for assigned locations.
  • Maintain an understanding of all Travelers products, services, and solutions and initiate discussions with other business units, as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal resources (e.g., Risk Control, Claim, Operations, etc.) to ensure delivery of all related service to Select clients.
  • Build partnerships with other business groups and identify and execute agency solutions and product solutions at the account level.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • 5 years of experience in underwriting, sales, product, or a closely related field preferred.
What is a Must Have?
  • 4 years of experience in underwriting, sales, product, or a closely related field.
