Manager Risk Management
Position Summary
The Manager Risk Management is responsible for assisting the Director in the identification and mitigation of company risks. These duties include displaying a big picture understanding and application of the components that go into managing claims, providing contractual comments, completing renewal applications, coordinating certificate issuance, verifying and approving invoices, being a part of the Go or Emergency Command Center Teams, attending site visits and managing the relationships with our various insurance Business Partners, Risk Management Information System (RMIS) provider as well as our operational on-call medical provider. The manager will compile statistical data and prepare/create reports on a wide variety of Risk Management related topics and ad hoc projects. The candidate will also work alongside the management of JetBlue’s Workers Compensation (WC) claims team to make sure that the programs are seamless between claims management and policy response.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of various insurance policies to advise internal stakeholders on coverage’s, policy terms, conditions and exclusions
- Compliance Audits for motor vehicle records
- Manage JetBlue’s RMIS system, relationships and technical needs
- Support other internal groups as needed with educational training and report/data requests
- Review insurance and indemnity related provisions of contracts and leases. Partner with internal stakeholders to identify exposures and suggest alternatives to mitigate risks
- Manager will adjust various claim types from start to finish which will include reviewing new and existing claims for accuracy and completeness, following reporting procedures to report new claims to the appropriate business partners, collection of data, understanding contractual rights, creating invoices and negotiating resolutions
- Meet with senior management and internal committees to discuss departmental metrics as needed
- Review insurance policies for accuracy and coverage understanding
- Manage future Crewmembers within Risk Management should the need to hire arises
- Prepare policy renewal submissions and policy audits including review and analysis of exposure data
- Timely administration of requests for certificates of insurance by coordinating with internal departments and our Business Partners
- Partner with internal groups to be a thought partner in identifying company risk
- Identify and report on trends within our claims, recommend pro-active changes to reduce costs
- Make recommendations with regards to coverage, limits and various programs as needed
- Cultivate relationships with key internal and external Business Partners
- Prepare reports for company leadership
- Obtain insurance identification cards for all autos, keep active log of all inventory
- Complete ad hoc projects and duties as required
- Stay current with the trends and conditions of the worldwide insurance markets, developments and best practices in the field of Risk Management
- Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Review various invoices for accuracy and ensure that they are being paid timely
- Coordinate with leadership within Worker’s Compensation to provide a world class and seamless Work Comp program
- Assists in preparing, conducting and evaluating occasional RFP’s
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Completion of Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or at least 3 exams towards the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation
- Five (5) years of related experience
- Bachelors Degree; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Seven or more years of insurance industry experience with a working knowledge of: Property, Directors & Officers, Workers Compensation, Auto Liability insurance and all other major types of insurance coverage
- Experience with RMIS systems is preferred
- Experience with the settlement of property or liability claims is required
- High level of proficiency with excel and PowerPoint
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Able to demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills through a work sample task
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner
- Available for overnight travel (10%)
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in insurance/risk management
- CPCU Designation
- Experience in aviation
Crewmember Expectations:
- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- Regular attendance and punctuality

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
