Job Description
SCOPE/OVERVIEW:
This position will have regular internal contact with the Purchasing Manager, Plant/Production Manager, Customer Service Manager & members of the leadership, quality and finance teams.
The Logistics Manager will work with both internal and external business partners to develop methods to reduce cost and improve service. This position will connect purchasing, production and sales to achieve common goals. In addition, this position will manage all functions related to maintaining and continuously improving warehousing and inventory accuracy. Provide collaborative support to other internal departments on quality, receiving, inventory accuracy and shipping practices. The position is also responsible for managing import and export related transactions and insures compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations and the company’s Import and Export Compliance policies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE LEADERSHIP AND OVERSIGHT OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Identify, negotiate and manage all logistics suppliers and vendors
Responsible for all distribution points and shipping locations in North America
Liaison between company and TMS service provider
Improve logistics efficiency by consolidating freight and specifications by lane
Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems
Logically and systematically resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports/exports, or customer issues
Develop and implement plan with plant production to increase warehouse movement efficiency
Work with customer service for securing delivery service quality
Drive down costs of transportation, services and inventory within distribution strategy
Oversees accurate processing of all import shipments in accordance with U.S. law
Publish/educate team members of US and international legislation, fuel costs and environmental matters affecting supply chain
Coordinate with International Trade Compliance Manager/Customs Broker on product classification for imports and exports.
Ensure that personnel responsible for import and export activities receive necessary training
Promote workplace safety in areas of responsibility.
Ensures safe and efficient running of department
BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required with preferred emphasis on Supply Chain, Operations and/or Engineering related field
Advanced degree preferred in Supply Chain and or Business Management
5 years of general logistics/ production management experience
Qualifications/Skills:
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)
Excellent numerical skills
Knowledge in using specific Logistics systems
Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
Data analysis: Handle large amounts of electronic data to analyze trends to support supply chain operation
Production and Processing -- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Transportation -- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Administration and Management -- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

The salary range for this position is $108,800 - $163,900 USD. Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions.
