Job Description
PURPOSE:


Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the development and standardization of all transportation network planning activities for inbound material and finished vehicles for the company entities in the USMCA markets.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare the scope of work/tender specifications for bidding transportation and other transportation network related services in close alignment with the budget owners
  • Develop tender milestone plan for the respective network and provide regular updates to Business Units (BU) and management of the project goals and milestones
  • Document and implement compliant and efficient processes for planning and procurement of transportation logistics services.
  • Develop and monitor plant budgets for transportation and other transportation network related services in conjunction with budget owner
  • Plan optimized freight solutions
  • Plan and prepare Business Reviews with each BU's and carries
  • Work towards continuous improvement to address delivery, quality and cost.
  • Continuous development of USMCA Transportation Market knowledge to support the center of competence strategy for the company
  • Prepare and lead regular meetings with the BU's
  • Analyze and determine the best transportation mode for each operation, plant, supplier, and part in the USMCA markets for Inbound and Outbound Transportation
  • Monitor shipment volumes as the production level or mix changes and align or adjust the network when necessary
  • Execute the department goals and milestones including, but not limited to, re-design of processes for tender planning and contract management for transportation logistics services
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Work with procurement of transportation logistics network to select carriers and support to negotiate the optimal service and cost solution
  • Incorporate the MB Sustainability Strategy into the tender specifications


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Project Management or Purchasing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply chain/Operations Management or Business Administration
  • Three (3) years practical work experience in Maintenance


REQUIRED SKILLS:


  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Experience with data organization, data scrubbing and data management, Strong Analytical Skills
  • Transportation market knowledge in the USA
  • Main frame system knowledge: SAP, Advanced knowledge: Word, Excel, MS Project, Power Point and Power BI
  • Experience in developing a transportation network in either inbound or outbound logistics, including comparison of cost, time, and quality of different delivery methods (truck, rail etc.)


PREFERRED SKILLS:


  • Experience in developing a cross border transportation network in North America
  • Transportation Market Knowledge in Canada and Mexico
  • Fluency in Spanish or German Language (written and verbal skills)
  • Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing industry and logistics


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
